PERFORMANCE
BUTTERFLIES

Here you will find information about our up and coming
performance Papillons. I will be posting photos of their training, and future
competitions on this page. The dogs are all new and in training spring of 2008,
so it may be awhile before we actually reach a competitive level. We love the versatility
of this breed and their eagerness to learn.
When we were first given Austin, the original goal was
to train for obedience. Some how we ended up in the conformation ring for the
last three years. While we have done pretty well, we want a change of scenery
for awhile! We know our dogs are beautiful, ok so we're a little conceited about
them.. but it's true! Now we want to show what our dogs can do!
Our long term goal is to obtain Total Dog awards by
UKC. As we
all know, not every dog is meant, or built for that matter, to do just any job.
So we will be trying out several different events to see which fits each
individual dog. With the help of friends and family we have gathered up
some great mentors to lead us.
It is often said that the Papillon character is
like that of a big dog in a little
dog's body. They can do virtually all that a larger dog can do, but with less
effort, upkeep, and space requirements. Truly, their unique beauty goes far
beyond their glorious butterfly ears! We feel that any dog with correct
structure should be able to do just about anything. Check back often as this page will be continuously updated
with new photos and announcements!
We were training in other events but this got to be too much
for both us and the dogs, so we're sticking to just the following three
now.

WEIGHT PULLING
~BUTTERFLY POWER~
We believe that a dog, with correct
structure, can be trained to do just about anything - with that we are pleased to share with you our newest work in progress. Weight Pulling! As exhibitors to UKC conformation events we felt
something was missing from our dogs performance and we as breeders could bring
so much more to the breed then just a pretty face in the ring.
In the fall of
2007 we contacted the UKC headquarters about Papillon's in the weight pulling.
You can guess their response! This sport is strongly dominated by the beautiful
and outstanding bully breeds. American Pit Bull Terriers are known for their
strong drive and intense loyalty to please their owners. So it's not surprising
to see these dogs pulling several thousand pounds of weight. While our
Papillon's will not reach that extreme we fit into our own little category. More
reference on information into weight pulling can be obtained by visiting the
United Kennel Club website from our links page.
We've
never been known to stand down to a challenge. So begins our training of being
the first Papillon in UKC weight pulling history! This part of the page will be dedicated to
Luna and Gyspy's training and performance as they compete. Our long term goal, to receive
the Total Dog award given by the United Kennel Club!
NO photos,
video, or literature may be obtained by any means from this page
with out written agreement from Silhouette Papillon's. If your looking for
info on how to begin training, just ask!

OBEDIENCE
Austin and his brother Baron are
working at refining their skills and we hope to begin competing in UKC
spring of 2009. There are not many UKC obedience shows here in Washington, and those that are end up being quite a travel for us. We plan
to use the winter months for some great training time. The boys are
learning fast and are eager to please. Both Baron and Austin have completed their
CGC and therapy dog titles, next on the list is a CD from both AKC and UKC.
If we can ever get them to do a solid retrieve, we'll go forward from
there.

on the "watch me". He was more interested in all the smells.
