September 19, 2009 - We traveled down to Oregon for the
AEDA of Oregon UKC show held in St. Helens. This was our first time attending
this show site and we were quite pleased. The entire fair was a beautiful
display of gardens in full bloom. Of course i had to take a peek into the Master
Gardeners private garden, wow what an array of wonderful things to see.
Everything from cantaloupe, wine making grapes, lemon cucumbers, and purple
carrots to old fashioned hollyhocks and a giant gazebo covered in rich sweet
honey suckle. It was amazing and I went away with lots of ideas for our new
garden.
However, this wasn't the only highlight of our weekend.
I had a new pup along for the trip co-owned with my mother. Raven Crest My Gal
Sal a black Miniature Poodle, call name "Sally" at just barely 4
months of age she performed like a seasoned pro and gaited effortlessly around
the ring. This girl definitely likes to show off! What poodle doesn't.. lol
Sally proved her stuff winning Best In Show Novice puppy twice on Saturday and
getting long looks from the judges Sunday.
Many thanks to Mrs. Eleanor Main and Mrs. Marilyn O' Neill.
I'll post the winning photos when
they arrive. For now here is a photo of our dark beauty.

September
19, 2009 - I saw this online today. Too often in our haste we forget the real
reason behind our devoted companions, our true one and only best friends.
I
AM YOUR DOG
I am your dog, and I have a little something I'd like to whisper in your ear. I
know that you humans lead busy lives. Some have to work, some have children to
raise. It always seems like you are running here and there, often much too fast,
often never noticing the truly grand things in life. Look down at me now, while
you sit there at your computer. See the way my dark brown eyes look at yours?
They are slightly cloudy now. That comes with age. The gray hairs are beginning
to ring my soft muzzle.
You smile at me; I see love in your eyes. What do you see in mine? Do you see a
spirit? A soul inside, who loves you as no other could in the world? A spirit
that would forgive all trespasses of prior wrong doing for just a simple moment
of your time? That is all I ask. To slow down, if even for a few minutes to be
with me. So many times you have been saddened by the words you read on that
screen, of other of my kind, passing. Sometimes we die young and oh so quickly,
sometimes so suddenly it wrenches your heart out of your throat. Sometimes, we
age so slowly before your eyes that you may not even seem to know until the very
end, when we look at you with grizzled muzzles and cataract clouded eyes. Still
the love is always there, even when we must take that long sleep, to run free in
a distant land.
I may not be here tomorrow; I may not be here next week. Someday you will shed
the water from your eyes, that humans have when deep grief fills their souls,
and you will be angry at yourself that you did not have just "One more
day" with me. Because I love you so, your sorrow touches my spirit and
grieves me. We have NOW, together. So come, sit down here next to me on the
floor, and look deep into my eyes. What do you see? If you look hard and deep
enough we will talk, you and I, heart to heart. Come to me not as
"alpha" or as "trainer" or even "Mom or Dad," come
to me as a living soul and stroke my fur and let us look deep into one another's
eyes, and talk.
I may tell you something about the fun of chasing a tennis ball, or I may tell
you something profound about myself, or even life in general. You decided to
have me in your life because you wanted a soul to share such things with.
Someone very different from you, and here I am. I am a dog, but I am alive. I
feel emotion, I feel physical senses, and I can revel in the differences of our
spirits and souls. I do not think of you as a "Dog on two feet" -- I
know what you are. You are human, in all your quirkiness, and I love you still.
Now, come sit with me, on the floor. Enter my world, and let time slow down if
only for 15 minutes. Look deep into my eyes, and whisper to my ears. Speak with
your heart, with your joy and I will know your true self.
We may not have
tomorrow, and life is oh so very short.
--Love, (on behalf of canines everywhere)

September 12-13, 2009 Wenatchee Kennel
Club Apple Harvest show. This was our first time attending the WKC show and what
a beautiful show site they have! Plush fields of dark green grass to show and
camp on. All beside a beautiful river and hills covered in fruit orchards.. The weather was a bit warm, but not too terrible and the dogs seemed to
enjoy themselves. Once again our pups shined like the brilliant stars they are.
Kalisse-Silhouette Man About Town "Ian" won reserve winners dog both
days under judges Ms. Ann A. Kennedy and Mrs. Robert Smith.
Ryan, Ians brother, placed
second in his class both days to his brother, while his sister Morgan placed
second on Saturday and first on Sunday. She is still yet our wild child in the
ring, but improving and the judges continue to comment on how beautiful she is.
Now only to get her to walk a straight line... on all four paws! Below is Ians
win photo from Sunday and a few random photos of the kids showing their little
hearts out.

August 23, 2009 - Sammamish Kennel Club: We
attended the one day show in Redmond, WA where Ryan (UKC BPIS Kalisse-Silhouette
Ringside Gossip) won best 6-9mo male and then went on to win Reserve Winners
dog. What a thrill that was! This boy is AMAZING to show.

Morgan (Kalisse-Silhouette Calendar Girl)
also won her 6-9mo puppy class. Best of all she was a VERY good girl on the
table, despite her leaping and flying around the ring. I'm glad our judge took
the time to see how beautiful this little girl really is. Special thanks to our
judge Mrs. Dorothy MacDonald.

This is how we started around the ring............
so far so good on the table!

There's my pretty girl stacking.

Morgan on right with half sister/cousin (their mothers are
littermate sisters) Cricket in the winners bitch class.

Our little Echo (Silhouette Midnight
Rumble) went to his new, much loved, home today. We wish Echo and his new buddy
Mark the very best.

August 14, 2009- Well we finally made it
to the local Papillon specialty, hosted by the Papillon Association of Puget
Sound (PAPS) in Enumclaw, WA. With over 140 entries it made for an amazing
weekend. There were alot of Kalisse dogs there and did some fine winning, our
very own Kalisse-Silhouette pups placed well. Morgan received second in her
class and Ryan received 4th while his litter brother Ian received 3rd. We
enjoyed getting a chance to see all the pups together again and they seemed to
have a good time themselves.

L-R: Morgan stacking, Ryan moving out.. just look at those
angles! gorgeous!
To make the best of an already great day
it is with great honor that I get to brag about the pups father. UKC BIS and
Multi CH Caratoot's Classy Centerfold "Jazz" was awarded Best Stud Dog
during the specialty with three of his pups as a presentation. Those pups were
Kalisse-Silhouette Man About Town "Ian", Kalisse-Silhouette Calendar
Girl "Morgan" and Kalisse-Cadgets Classic Touch "Smudge".
Smudge's mother is a littermate sister to Phoebe, Morgan and Ryans mother.

This was a crazy photo to be taken, but we managed to
somewhat get a decent pic. can you tell we were all VERY tired! lol
Here is another shot, silly pups! Elaine had to step out of the photo to coax
Jazz into posing.

July 25-26: This was Morgan and Ryan's
first AKC show and over all they did really well. Ryan was the only one in his
class and he did very well during winners dog, he really enjoys showing. His
sister Morgan had a great time leaping around the ring despite all our lead
training. Our thanks to our judges, Mrs. Dany Canino and Mr. Richard G
Beauchamp, for being so patient with our pups.
Our biggest news to share belongs to the
Kalisse family and their silly girl Piper, UKC CH Can Ch Kalisse Too Hot To
Handle. There is no way anyone could NOT love this girl and her crazy antics and
comical expressions. Sunday Piper went for it all right to the top and won her
first Best of Breed making into the group ring. This girl is definitely hot and
strutted her stuff proud for group. Piper is an exceptional mover, matched with
her gorgeous coat and HUGE ears she just seems to glide around the ring. Our
congrats to the Kalisse team and Miss Piper and their fantastic win.

June 11, 2009 - Photos have
finally arrived from our first UKC show of the season. We traveled down to
Chehalis last weekend for the American Eskimo Dog Assoc Of WA two day show. We
had set out with some goals for our new pups, Morgan and Ryan and we are proud
to say they are fast following in their parents paw prints. On friday Morgan (
Kalisse - Silhouette Calender Girl) took the win in novice puppy going best of
breed both shows. She was a wild child and it was a great learning experience
for her, the judges enjoyed being showered with lots and lots of puppy
kisses.

The weekend was hot and we
were all melting, so for Sunday we dressed down to our casual jeans and wouldn't
you know it, Ryan (Kalisse - Silhouette Ringside Gossip) takes Best Novice Puppy
In Show, not once.. but TWICE!! We are still feeling the rush of such a
fantastic win!! This little boy taking more after his daddy every day, and we
are excited to see what the future will hold for them both as they mature.
Pictured below is Morgan and Ryan's winning photos.

June 8, 2009 - New home

Gypsy now known as "Kili"
(Silhouette RC Gypsy
Maiden) has now moved to her new forever home with Julie and big sister Nola.
They have big agility plans for her future and we wish them the very best.

April 5, 2009 - Tonight I was
browsing the UKC site searching for upcoming events in my area when I stumbled
across this. UKC is now offering a $25 coupon to all who obtain a title from
June 1, 2009 till May 31, 2010!! How fantastic and awesome is that!! It means
you title your dog in conformation, you get $25, agility $25, obedience.. yes
another $25!! This is just yet another reason why I love UKC.
Also, new photos of little
Ryan are up.. we got some nice shots of him strutting his stuff. We couldn't be
more happier with this litter.

March 27, 2009
- The United Kennel Club, Inc. proudly announced today a new program, UKC
Activity Rewards Program, to
encourage the Total Dog Philosophy and to reward the owners who make
this philosophy their goal.
Every dog that earns a UKC Championship
Title in separate event areas from June 1, 2009 through May 31, 2010
will receive a $25 gift certificate for each new qualifying UKC title
earned. Dogs with current UKC titles that earn additional UKC titles in
separate event areas during this period will receive a $25 Gift
Certificate for each new qualifying title. These Gift Certificates can
be used for UKC services including registration, transfers, pedigrees,
magazine subscriptions, and entry fees for specified events.
“The UKC understands how much time and
resources our customers put into their dogs and wanted to find a way to
reward them for their contributions to a more versatile and vibrant gene
pool. We continue to encourage breeders and owners to strive for titles
in multiple event areas to emphasize the great success of our UKC Total
Dog philosophy. This UKC approach keeps our events, breeders, and owners
focused on dogs that do far more than just look the part”, said UKC
President Wayne Cavanaugh.
The UKC Activity Reward gift certificates
will be mailed along with UKC titles to all UKC registered and LP dogs
who qualify. For example, a dog that already has a UKC Agility Title and
earns a UKC Conformation Title during the term of the program will
receive one $25 gift certificate. Dogs earning a UKC Agility and UKC
Conformation Title during the period of the program will receive two $25
Gift Certificates. New levels of the same UKC Title do not qualify; for
example a UKC Nite Champion who earns a UKC Grand Nite Champion Title
would not qualify, but a UKC Nite
Champion who earns a UKC Water Race or UKC Bench Show Title would
qualify.
“We believe that everyone wins when
breeders set goals of producing more well-rounded dogs. We know that the
people who originally created these breeds had more than appearance in
mind. When breeding programs are based on dogs that are tested in both
the show ring and in the woods, or for obedience and agility for
example, selection must be based on healthy athletic stock. This Total
Dog philosophy is a salute to those who created these breeds in the past
while remaining focused on the long-term future of our dogs,” added
Mark Threlfall, UKC Executive VP.
Established in 1898, the United Kennel
Club is the largest all-breed performance-dog registry in the world,
registering dogs from all 50 states and 25 foreign countries. More than
60 percent of its 14,000 annually licensed events are tests of hunting
ability, training and instinct. UKC prides itself on its
family-oriented, friendly, educational events. To find out more about
UKC registration and events, call or visit our website. Phone: (269)
343-9020; Fax: (269) 343-7037; www.ukcdogs.com.
For a year starting
June 1, 2009 the United Kennel Club will be sending out $25.00 gift
certificates for dogs earning an additional title(s) in different
programs offered. The United Kennel Club believes that our participants
should be rewarded for all the hard work they do in training their dogs
to be versatile and perform in more than one aspect of the dog world.

March 29, 2009 -
Today we drove out to Sequim for another round of Canine Good Citizen and
Therapy Dog Int. testing. We also met with the owner of a sibling from a past
litter to our Paris and Baron. Well, we are pleased to say that our little Kyra
and her Uncle Sailor (littermate to Baron and Paris) passed with flying colors!
This makes five generations of titled CGC and Therapy dogs and almost an entire
litter. Below are a couple photos of Sailor at several work stations. He was
such a good boy and has come very far in his training. This is our goal for our
dogs, great examples of the breed and intelligent minds. In a few more
weeks we will all be going to our first Novice Obedience show, it will be fun
and exciting to finally get our feet wet in the performance ring!

March 23, 2009 - We have
updated our puppy page and have two male pups and three adults available to
companion or performance homes. More information can be found here.
We are not planning any more litters for some time, so if your interested in a
papillon who is healthy, stable temperament, genetically sound, and just an all
around joy to live with AND actually looks like a papillon should look, this is
your chance. I have a new program going on for those thinking of doing
performance and needing that extra boost to get the ball going. I am offering a
partial refund to dogs purchased after March 2009. If you place a working title
on a puppy or adult purchased from us (details will be stipulated in the
contract) we will refund you part of your purchase price. You must provide us
with proof of the title and a winning photo. Performance titles may be from
either the AKC or UKC venue, which includes the following: Obedience, Agility,
Weight Pulling (must obtain a veterinarians passing approval on hip and patellur
exam), Rally, Tracking, and Dock Diving. I may consider freestyle or therapy
work only after showing that your dog is actively working/ competing.
Show titles are nice, but we want
to see that our dogs can work and can use their mind. I've not decided if I want
to offer this program to show dogs quite yet, simply because at this time I do
not have any to place. However, I do know of some FANTASTIC upcoming litters who
carry heavy coated lines, great structure, and wonderful temperaments. As
always, we advise new buyers to do their research and make sure that they are
educated in their purchase. If you purchase a show dog, we expect it to be
shown.
Our website will be undergoing
some big changes over the next few weeks. I'm working on updating all photos and
graphics. A little online spring cleaning. We have new hopefuls for the year and
if our work schedule permits, we hope to add some performance events to our show
line up.

February 27, 2009 - Luna's
babies have arrived! One tri color girl and one sable boy. Luna was great and
calm during the whole process. She was a bit nervous at first once the pups were
there and it took some coaxing to get her to nurse them. It's amazing the size
differences. I think this is because they were conceived at different times and
the boy is a preemie. We are bottle feeding him till he is able to gain enough
strength to nurse, he's definitely a fighter that's for sure. This little boy
has lots of heat. :)

January 25, 2009 - Phoebes' kids are now 4wks and
teething. We took a few pics while they tried out their first meal. It didn't
take long before all four of them were up to their paws in mush! Oh the fun
stage begins! :)

January 17, 2009 - This
weekend we drive down to Portland, Or for the Rose City Classic AKC show hosted
by Eukanuba and Animal Planet. What an outstanding event! We stayed Saturday
evening to watch the group and BIS judging ,which will be aired on Animal Planet
April 11th at 8pm. The
camera man was walking around doing close ups and he got Kyra and I with our
friends Boston Terrier crew on film. We
sat on the line up side, so perhaps you'll see us and miss Kyra. The crowd was
awesome and everyone cheered all the dogs on, but there were some definite
favorites. It was fun to see all the owners hiding in the crowds, trying to get
a peek at what was going on but not bee seen, while their dogs were working with
the handlers.
The venders were AMAZING! It
was fun to go around and see all the goodies and toys, oh and the artwork! They
had a sculptor there who was working on an Irish setter head study piece.
Anything you could possibly imagine for dogs, it was there for sale.
Perhaps the part we enjoyed most was watching
the obedience and agility rings, so many amazing, smart, and talented dogs and
their handlers making it look so easy. Especially the agility teams, zipping
around the ring while seriously hundreds of people are watching, all sorts of
noises, and distractions.
We all had a blast. Kyra spent
most of it curled up on our neighbors jacket sleeping and being held by a nice
lady who owned the Spinoni Italiano who won breed that day. Below are some
photos of the BOB winning papillon and his handler that I took during
filming.

January 10, 2009 - The new
babies are now two weeks old and have opened their beautiful baby brown eyes to
the world. It has been an amazing journey so far watching them grow up, each
with their very own unique personalities. Phoebe has been an exceptionally good
mother and it shows. The pups have all doubled their birth weights, including
the little miss mouse of a girl who was born last and in a hurry! She's a feisty
little mouse with LOTS of personality. So, here they are pictured left to
right in order of birth. Enjoy!

You can enjoy
viewing more photos of the babies and their pedigree,
also an individual page of each butterfly growing up here.
